Inside Kirsty Doyle’s Studio

Inside Kirsty Doyle’s Studio

Kirsty Doyle is a womenswear and childrenswear designer with a design and manufacture studio based in Liverpool, selling her ready-to-wear line through her online store, and offering a fully bespoke service for her Brides and Bridesmaids from the on-site showroom.

The KD girl is not only shopping for a look that will impress at an important occasion but also for something she can bring out season after season.
We caught up with KD to talk about her new collection.

What does Autumn/Winter ’16 look like to you? What’s inspired you this year?

AW16 looks like a vixen. She is a super glamorous party girl mixing up velvets and tulles like a queen. Wearing dark berry coloured lips and hair in sleek waves.
I am inspired by high fashion stars like Carine Roitfeld, Paris fashion week street stylers and old school Hollywood cinched in waists.

What has been the most popular wedding trend this summer?

For KD Brides they are wanting a “super fit” that shows off their curves, low backs are a big hit keeping the detail on the back of the gown rather than the front. Also, lace is still on trend but in a new form, from beaded tulles to vintage style corded lace. Finally, our brides are loving extra-long veils whether they are hand beaded or plain they still have a tonne of drama!

How do you think businesses, particularly independent businesses, can benefit from selling online compared to in-store?

For KD our decision to move our shopping experience online came out of the need to open up our reach on a national level. Also, KD Girls want instant gratification and through sneak peeks and styling tips we share through our social media, they want to go straight to the website and get the look.
From the perspective of the independent business owner, you are cutting back on huge costs and you are in control of everything you share, from blogging to the new season. You become reactionary and can test new products quickly.

Why are tulle skirts so popular and how do yours stand out? Can you give us any suggestions on how to wear your tulle skirts?

Our new-look Tulle for AW16 is now sheer, we suggest getting a pair of high waisted knickers to wear underneath, Style It with one of our velvet polo tops, Wear It with a pair of pointed stilettos and a leather jacket.

KD KIDS

Kirsty also has a very popular Tulle Range for kids and recently had a photo-shoot done – see images below.
