Liverpool Disco Festival is back this autumn with its third instalment, with some very special names coming to the region on Saturday 7th October across the thriving Baltic Triangle area of the city.
The city-wide explosion of music, art and culture over the last five years has nourished a fertile ground of innovation, integration and celebration – and Liverpool Disco Festival 3 is one such expression of this immense Scouse spirit which continues to grow from strength to strength.
May’s multi-venue takeover drew crowds from all over the country, road-blocking the Baltic Triangle with a weekend that celebrated the legacy of underground dance music inspired by Chicago and New York City. Thousands of feet stomped in delight as legendary Stateside DJs were joined by Europe’s celebrated disco diggers, and jaws dropped at the spectacular production and incredible live murals created during the party.
The uniting heartbeat of the disco message is fully alive as this spectacular event returns in autumn, which features some truly iconic names from across the disco and house spectrum: Linda Clifford, Julie McKnight and Ron Carroll all perform live, and on the DJ front Dimitri From Paris, Resident Crowning of Jellybean Benitez, John Morales, Rahann, Jamie 3:26 and Natasha Kitty Katt, plus: Mr. Scruff (4hr set), Prosumer, Mike Dunn, Ron Carroll, Paul Trouble Anderson, Graeme Park, Eli Escobar, Kon and many more are all on deck duty.
October’s edition of the Liverpool Disco Festival is the most anticipated and adventurous to date: its headline billing a multi-media collaboration with two venerable dance music labels, each with forty-year legacies. West End and Salsoul Records will be unearthing rare and previously unavailable master tracks from their vaults and offering them exclusively to Liverpool Disco Festival DJs to rework, reimagine and refresh for today’s dance floor.
Both fabled imprints have helped shaped dance music culture as we know it today. West End Records was founded by Mel Cheren and Ed Cushins in 1976 and would go on to define the sound of New York City during the heyday of disco.
Also operating out of NYC, Salsoul was one of the foremost and influential disco labels of its time.. In the early ‘90s, interest in the label was revived when Holloway’s ‘Love Sensation’ was sampled and became an integral part of Black Box’s international chart smash ‘Ride On Time’.
Liverpool Disco Festival presents a very rare opportunity to hear these anticipated, reworked versions of choice cuts from both label’s back catalogues before their general release – an unmissable and anticipated first for every discerning disco fan.
More information will be released soon for Liverpool Disco Festival 3.
