Gigs & Graphics is a collaboration between Northern Lights, Sound City, Toucan Tango and artists and
musicians that live and work in and around Liverpool. We have programmed three components to
engage all of us who love art and music – particularly those who study art and music, or work in these
fields already – and are looking for connections, advice and want to geek out.
What’s happening?
Firstly, we are organising an Industry Day and Preview on the 3rd of May. We have invited musicians,
artists and music industry professionals who successfully inhabit the intersection of art and music to
lead a day of workshops, talks and to take part in a Q&A and discussion with students, artists and
musicians. We hope to generate an exciting exchange of ideas and opportunities for future work and
collaborations.
Public Viewings
In the evening we encourage everyone to stay, continue the conversations and have a drink as we
launch the exhibitions to the public!
For the Gigs & Graphics International Print Exhibition we have invited internationally renowned poster
artists to submit work that they have produced for musicians, festivals and gigs. The uptake has been
remarkable and we are extremely proud to display these works in Liverpool.
The 10 out of 10 project
For the 10 out of 10 Project and Exhibition we have asked a mix of 10 emerging and established visual
artists are paired with 10 of the acts on Sound City 2018’s line-up, to create a bespoke print. The results
from this project will be displayed at Northern Lights from 3rd May to 7th May alongside the
International Print component of Gigs & Graphics.
A limited run of exceptional prints will be available to buy and proceeds will be shared with Youth Music
North West to help fund their amazing work in and around Liverpool.
