Lu Ban Restaurant and Bar, which specialises in authentic Chinese dishes with a unique Liverpool twist has been nominated for two prestigious business awards after its glowing reputation secured them the top award from Tripadvisor.
Its the first time that the popular restaurant has won a Tripadvisor award and based on its popularity, its has to be the first of many.
Kanika Soni, chief commercial officer at Tripadvisor, said:
“The Travelers’ Choice Awards highlight the places that are consistently excellent – delivering quality experiences time and time again even while navigating changing customer expectations and new ways of working.
“Based on a full year of reviews from customers, this award speaks to the great service and experience you provided guests in the midst of a pandemic.”
Lu Ban will be looking to add to its awards this autumn having also being nominated in two categories in the City of Liverpool Business Awards 2021 organised by Downtown in Business Liverpool.
Great news for the head chef
Executive chef director Dave Critchley, who featured on the recent BBC2 series Great British Menu, is a nominee in the Business Hero of the Year category.
At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic he founded Liverpool Independent Delivery Service (LIDS) and has championed a number of good causes through the WellFed initiative. This has seen 20,000 WellFed or LIDS meals delivered to people across the region. It has also successfully raised £30,000 to support these meals, a range of community activities and support 50 local community partnerships.
Lu Ban has been nominated in the Hospitality Venue of the Year category. Featuring a range of dining options – including Chef’s Table, Food Lab and Wine Room – the venue has supported NHS workers and launched a series of themed dining events.
Lu Ban director David Hughes said: “After an incredibly challenging year, to be recognised both by diners for our food and service on Tripadvisor and amongst our peers in the city is just amazing.
“We always strive to be inventive with our menus and to deliver the ultimate in service. We have a talented and hard-working team and this is a reward for all of the effort.”
The Downtown in Business awards were launched in 2004 and acknowledge and celebrate companies and entrepreneurs that have made a successful and significant contribution to economic growth in the Liverpool city region.
Voting across all 14 categories closes on Friday 27th August. The winners of the Downtown in Business awards will be revealed on Thursday 7th October.
