Liverpool’s award-winning festival, Positive Vibrations, is a celebration of reggae music and Jamaican heritage. This year it will be returning to the Baltic Triangle for a jam-packed weekend in June, specifically to venues Constellations, Hangar 34, and District. This year’s headliners are legendary 2-Tone band, The Selecter, and King of the sound system, Jah Shaka.
This years festival also includes the Art of Reggae Exhibition, which is a successful collaboration between Positive Vibration and the International Reggae Poster Contest. The exhibition supports the Alpha Boys School in Jamaica, and will showcase 100 reggae inspired posters, designed by international illustrators and artists.This will take place 7th June -9th of July, and is free admission, but please confirm your attendance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will also be a panel discussion held on the Saturday of the festival, which will explore the impact of reggae on British music, culture, and society. This years panel includes the likes of Pauline Black, Mykaell Riley, Denis Bovell, and John Robb. There will also be a number of workshops held on the Saturday for children, including Dub Poetry with Levi Tafari, Arts and Crafts with Square Pegs, The Rastaquarium, and Capoeira with Capoeira for All.
