Exhibxtchin’ is a club night that celebrates and empowers women whilst aiming to create a feminist club culture in Liverpool.
The six women behind the event started as students on the committee in the UoL Feminist Society, and since graduating university created the event and in 2017 began holding empowering female club nights at 24 Kitchen Street.
The girl power behind Exhibxtchin’ wanted to create a club atmosphere which was safe for women, in light of sexual harassment on nights out, whilst also rising money for RASA Merseyside (Rape and Sexual Abuse centre).
Speaking to Lucy Pilling, the co-founder of Exhibxtchin’:
‘We have held multiple club nights in the last year and a bit, raising over £3,000 for RASA and showcasing around 10 different DJs, at venues such as 24 Kitchen Street and Constellations in the Baltic Triangle.’
‘We have collaborated with different women’s organisations such as Reclaim the Night Liverpool which is an annual march protesting violence against women – we held the after-party to the march where women could let off some steam dancing after the march!’
Ahead of International Women’s Day, Exhibxtchin’ are excited to be collaborating with SisBis another events group that celebrates women.
Together they are holding a ‘Things to do’ event on the 8th March from 6pm at 24 Kitchen Street, where craft and artwork will meet activism to create lovely things.
Lucy said:
‘Our events are usually decorated with hand-made items and banners, so we will be providing craft materials in the style of the decorations you may usually see at our events.
‘The workshop is free, but we will have a bucket accepting donations RASA Merseyside from participants.’
Exhibxtchin’ acts as an all-inclusive club event and welcomes everyone!
